A UK-based company, Open Cosmos, recently launched two commercial nanosatellites. One of these nanosatellites is a 5G IoT satellite for a telecom operator. This is the first satellite to provide continuous IoT connectivity, merging satellite and terrestrial networks under 5G.
This launch highlights the ability to operate low-cost satellites providing IoT connectivity to remote parts of the world. The data collection satellites will become key to making them more accessible and affordable to businesses and governments across the world.
