Teams of students from around the world recently took part in the Indy Autonomous Challenge, a competition that aims to advance autonomous vehicle technology. One after the other, teams competed for the fastest times around a track using the same Dallara IL-15 car equipped with sensors, cameras, GPS, and radars, which resembles a small Formula One vehicle. But instead of drivers, the cars used roughly 40,000 lines of code programmed by each team to navigate the track at speeds of up to 150 mph.
