The Hong Kong-based robotics firm Hanson Robotics recently introduced Grace, a humanoid robot that may revolutionize the healthcare industry. Grace acts as an assistant to doctors by using sensors and a thermal camera to detect a patient’s temperature and pulse. The robot can also help diagnose illness, deliver treatments, communicate with patients in multiple languages, and serve as a patient companion.
Grace’s launch comes at a time when there is increased demand for telehealth services and contactless care. Robot sales were already on the rise prior to the pandemic, with sales increasing 28% between 2018 and 2019. Hanson Robotics plans to begin mass-producing the robots at the end of this year.
