A new technology developed by Northwestern University researchers simulates the sensation of touch when coupled with VR devices using a fitted, flexible material that vibrates on skin.
Commonly referred to as “epidermal VR,” the innovation has a number of use cases, including helping those with amputations gain touch sensation, simulating human contact between long-distance family members, or adding a layer of sensory engagement in gaming.
