Ports across the world are finding more uses for 5G networks within their terminals. In 2020, Zeebrugge, one of the world’s busiest ports, completed the first phase of a 5G-ready private network. The 5G platform, Nokia Digital Automation Cloud, helps streamline logistics, connect with tugboats, detect air pollution, monitor security cameras, and more. This year, the Port of Seattle joined the 5G network by introducing the technology within their terminals. The introduction of an industrial-grade LTE/5G private wireless network will deliver increases in efficiency, worker safety, and terminal handling performance.
