TinyML — or Tiny Machine Learning — is a technology that is making it possible to run machine learning algorithms on small, low-power devices like microcontrollers. This can enable a whole host of emerging IoT devices to run machine learning workloads without use of the cloud or edge gateways. This means that data analysis will be kept on the actual device which can positively impact a user’s data privacy, especially in devices that work with sensitive information such as health care devices. Bypassing cloud processing could also help improve latency and increase the energy efficiency of devices.
