We appreciate the opportunity to offer input on the design and implementation of the programs through which NTIA will distribute more than $48 billion in broadband infrastructure funding. The United States stands at a pivotal moment. The pandemic exposed the urgency of universal broadband, exacerbating hardship for the 21 million Americans without an internet connection capable of supporting remote learning, telehealth visits and work teleconferences. There is, at long last, a collective national focus on closing the digital divide, as well as unprecedented federal investments newly available to advance the universal broadband imperative. The simple goal is to connect every American regardless of their location or socioeconomic status.
