The hits keep piling up for wireless broadband upstart LightSquared. As Joan Lowy of the Associated Press reports:
Tests show that even the modified plans of the company LightSquared to start up a national high-speed wireless broadband network would cause harmful interference with GPS signals, federal officials said in a letter released Friday.
“There appear to be no practical solutions or mitigations that would permit the LightSquared broadband service, as proposed, to operate in the next few years months or years without significant interference with GPS,” officials said in a letter to the Commerce Department. They recommended no further testing.
In response to the latest report, LightSqured says the government’s analysis suffered from a conflict of interest.
