New data released by Parks Associates revealed that nearly a quarter of U.S. broadband households in Q3 2020 reported they planned to upgrade their internet speed over the next six months. This is up from 18% in the previous quarter who reported upping their plans. In Q3 last year, over 50% of U.S. broadband households reported increasing their broadband usage since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Part of this increase in broadband usage can be attributed to increased OTT video viewership, which has accelerated over the course of the pandemic compared to its pay-TV service counterpart.
