Telemedicine — healthcare delivered via telecommunications — can improve access to healthcare specialists, particularly for individuals in rural communities. But its use varies across county type depending on the availability of high-speed internet access. A recent study approved by the Harvard Medical School Institutional Review Board found that in fully rural counties, telemedicine use increased with greater broadband access.
