According to a new survey by TrendForce, global deployments of small cells are expected to reach almost 5 million units by 2021 — about triple the number of units as 2017. While the largest share of small cell deployment growth since 2017 has been for LTE or 3G/4G technology, 5G NR standalone and 5G/4G combined BTS technology small cell deployments are expected to see significant growth after 2019.
