Ever since the introduction of Google Search in 1997, the worldwide market share of all search engines has been lopsided. Generally speaking, Google has dominated, maintaining an 83.6 percent global market share as of April 2018.

The statistic below shows Google’s share of desktop search engine traffic in selected countries as of June 2018. The United States-based search engine giant has a market share of 94.39 percent in India and accounted for the majority of the global search engine market, well ahead of other competitors such as Yahoo!, Bing, Yandex, and Baidu.
