A recent survey by Pew Research Center reveals that the majority of Americans are concerned with the collection and use of their personal data by both companies and the government. The survey reports that the majority of U.S. adults say their personal data is less secure now than it was five years ago, with over 80% of Americans feeling that they lack control over what personal data is collected about them.
Americans are also not convinced that data collection does more harm than good. 81% think the potential risks of companies collecting data about them outweigh the benefits, while 66% believe that about government data collection.
