Opensignal recently released a report comparing U.S. states’ and cities’ 5G speeds, availability, video performance, and more. The study found that 5G is available to some extent everywhere, but download speeds can vary significantly.
The report found that New York State had the fastest average 5G download speeds at 114 Mbps, while Illinois and Texas lead the way for most availability of services. Vermont landed at the bottom for download speeds and had the least available 5G services. States with a higher percentage of urban population tended to have more 5G availability, underscoring the need to use federal funds to expand broadband availability to rural and other traditionally unserved areas.
