According to new reporting from GlobalData’s company filing analytics database, the effects of the COVID-19 crisis are intensifying for many industries. The retail, automotive, and travel & tourism industries were hit particularly hard by slippages in demand, with 20-30% of companies from these industries reporting they felt a “high” degree of impact from the coronavirus crisis between January 1 and April 15, 2020.
Telecom and Big Tech companies, however, could emerge “relatively unscathed,” with telecom companies enduring minimal impacts due to rapid increases in network traffic, and tech companies like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft benefiting from spikes in demand for cloud computing.
