Telehealth is helping fill diagnosis and treatment gaps faced by organizations in the fight against coronavirus. According to a recent Insights by Xtelligent Healthcare Media survey of healthcare industry stakeholders, more than 60% used telemedicine to address a coronavirus-related challenge, including:

  • PPE shortages — virtual triage means only the sickest patients physically visit clinics, reducing healthcare worker exposure and the need to change their PPE as frequently
  • Patient worries about coronavirus exposure — telehealth allows patients to speak with a doctor without the risk of exposure
  • Increased number of patients — telehealth appointments are generally quicker than in-person visits, allowing doctors to see more patients per day
