According to FAIR Health, claim lines for telehealth services in the U.S. shot up 8,336% in April 2020 compared to April 2019, shifting from just .15% of total medical claims to about 13% of total claims.

The data also showed urban centers had a higher share of telehealth claims compared to rural areas, and the largest increases in claims occurred in the Northeast.

“Month by month, FAIR Health’s Monthly Telehealth Regional Tracker is showing the impact of COVID-19 on telehealth,” said Robin Gelburd, FAIR Health president, in a statement. “Our data indicate that this venue of care is being transformed at a rapid pace.”
