In 2016, the Joint High-Speed Broadband Communications Access for All Georgians Study Committee was created with Senate Resolution 876 to examine high-speed internet access in Georgia and make progress toward closing the digital divide.
Georgia Technology Authority received a $5.2 million grant from the U. S. Department of Commerce in 2009 to fund broadband infrastructure analysis, regional planning, and capacity development projects statewide through 2014.
Since 2010, The Digital Georgia Program has been awarded $5,229,940 in federal grants for Georgia’s Broadband Initiative.
Another $69,687,765, accounting for 2.0% of all federal infrastructure grants, was awarded to broadband infrastructure projects in Georgia.
